Edmunds Autoresearch of Anaheim, CA produced more than 600 race cars, including midgets, sprint cars, championship cars, and formula racers, from 1963 through 1981. Only three of these famous cars were three quarter midgets. The car above is now on display at EARHS and is the first of the run. It bears dashplate C-TQ-1, signifying the first coil-over three quarter midget produced.

The original owner, Charlie Wise of Laguna Niguel, CA, is the grandfather of former USAC sprint car and midget driver and current NASCAR driver, Josh Wise. Charlie’s original 1980 request for an Edmunds-built TQ fell on deaf ears, but when orders for three cars were placed, former Indianapolis, sprint, supermodified, and midget driver Don Edmunds consented to produce the cars.

Edmunds used his current (1980) coil-over midget design, reduced the wheelbase by six inches, and produced a three quarter midget which proudly takes its place in the family of Edmunds racecars famous their performance, craftsmanship, and appearance.

The car was purchased in 2005 by Paul Weisel, Jr. of Orefield, PA, who completed the restoration in spring of 2008. Contributing to the project, LHS Engines of Whitehall, PA built the 750 cc fuel injected Honda engine, Lias Tire Co., of Indiana, PA contributed period correct McCreary tires, and Reliable Auto Body Works of Allentown, PA provided the paint and fiberglass work. Thanks to all who assisted, including Don Edmunds, Charlie Wise, John Carroll, Tom Cooper, Tom Goldman, et al.

All items will be returned intact and we can provide you with a computer disc of those items from significant collections. We are especially interested in Dorney Park items from the 1940’s, 1950’s, and 1960’s and all Allentown Fair items, including indoor racing events, but all items are welcome.
